Why Ree Drummond Homeschooled Her Kids
“The Pioneer Woman” Ree Drummond’s four children had more than just fun on the Drummond ranch — they were homeschooled there, too. Per a 2007 post on her blog, Drummond and her husband started homeschooling due to transportation problems, as the ranch is more than three hours away from town.
Drummond researched curriculums with a friend, and even put together play dates for their kids. Drummond notes the homeschooling lifestyle was perfect for their ranch lifestyle — allowing the children to help their father when needed, and giving them all more time together as a family.
Today, Drummond's children seem to be succeeding academically and on the sports field. Her younger daughter, Paige, recently graduated from the University of Arkansas, while her elder son, Todd, announced his decision to continue his football career at the University of South Dakota.
