This Is What Dairy Queen's 'Ice Cream' Is Really Made Of
Apart from including five percent milk fat, and 40 percent whipped air, Dairy Queen’s soft serve also contains a long list of FDA-approved, yet highly worrying, ingredients. Many of these ingredients have been linked to some serious side effects — like abdominal pain, flatulence, asthma, and cancer.
Between 2015 to 2019, Dairy Queens across the U.S. made headlines for consistently violating health and safety violations — like cockroaches in the kitchen, mold in the machines, and using expired milk. In 2018, NBC News went undercover and found 184 “critical violations” across 100 Dairy Queens nationwide.
Besides the terrifying side effects and the-less-than-sanitary violations, you can also be consuming nearly your full day’s worth of calories with a single serving. The Royal Reese Brownie Blizzard, for instance, has 1,490 calories — that’s 75 percent of a 2,000 calorie daily diet.
