How Atlas Monroe Vegan Chicken Is Doing After Shark Tank
Atlas Monroe came to be after founder Deborah Torres’ father was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and launched a plant-based extra crispy fried chick'n. When the owners appeared on Shark Tank, the judges loved the taste of their product, but when it came to finances, they were not as impressed.
Hoping for a $500,000 line of credit for a 10% stake, founders Deborah and Jonathan Torres were disappointed with what was proposed. They refused Mark Cuban’s offer of a million dollar investment that would have given him 100% ownership, with only 10% of the royalties going to the founders.
However, Deborah got the last laugh, as Atlas Monroe is set to become the largest plant-based fried chicken manufacturer, with her as the sole owner of a multimillion dollar operation. The company is also introducing new products — like a grilled chick’n line, "white meat" extra crispy fried chick'n breast, and chick'n strips.
