  • Justine can't remember a time when her life didn't revolve around food. her Korean grandmother literally raised her during the first three years of her life at the table tasting her kimchi and training her palate for bold flavors which, bar none, made Justine who she is. She went on to study food as a cultural lever and interacted with it fully, be it slinging out hot pastries at 4am or recipe developing for food brands in NYC. Nowadays Justine develops recipes and writes about them, along with other food issues that constantly occupy her mind.
  • Justine considers herself a lifelong student devoted to the nuanced art, science, and unbridled joy that all go into making home cooking what it is. With long-form reporting and recipes, she is quite keen on commerce-focused food stories and contributes to Food52, The Infatuation, Epicurious, and The Food Network.
  • Justine Lee is a food writer, recipe developer, and culinary consultant based in New York City whose work frequently appears in Food52, Bon Appetit, TASTE Cooking, and The Infatuation, among others. She's received recognition from the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.


Justine went to school for Nutrition and Food Studies, during which time she paid her dues baking and cooking in various professional kitchens in New York City - and urban farming on weekends! From conducting benchtop R&D work for food companies, she knows a thing or two about testing and developing successful recipes. That grasp paired with her knack for reporting, she now champions stories that speak on the different facets of food culture from her uniquely Korean-American gastronomic lens.


Justine Lee earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Studies from NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development in 2019.
